Our editing services aim to help students and scholars write better, more readable articles for conferences, journals and theses/dissertations in the social and behavioral sciences including the business disciplines.

We offer three types of editing services: basic, developmental, and peer review.

1. The first type is basic editing that focuses on one round of editing for grammar and spelling. This is particularly suited for non-native English speakers and those who are new to academic writing. Seasoned scholars may also find this service useful to get independent eyes on their manuscripts. The focus of such editing is to help ensure that the paper meets basic grammar and spelling standards. The typical turnaround time for this type of editing for standard manuscripts (approx. 40 pages double-spaced) is one week. In some instances, a quicker turnaround maybe possible for an additional fee.
2. The second type is developmental editing that consists of two rounds. In addition to editing for grammar and spelling, comments and/or suggestions may be made to improve the structure (e.g., remove short paragraphs) writing and logical flow of ideas (e.g., need better transition between paragraphs). This type of editing is always done by a scholar who holds a PhD in a discipline within the social and behavioral sciences. The editing in both rounds will be done by the same individual, barring extenuating circumstances. This type of editing helps in enhancing the overall readability of the manuscript. The typical turnaround time for each round of this type of editing for standard manuscripts (approx. 40 pages double-spaced) is two weeks. In some instances, a quicker turnaround maybe possible for an additional fee.
3. The third type of editing is a review that is similar to what one may receive at a peer-reviewed journal. Upon receipt of a manuscript, we will advise you whether we can provide such a review for your manuscript. As we tap into a large network of scholars, in most instances, we should be able to provide a suitable review for your manuscript. In most instances, reviews can be done in two to four weeks.

In all cases, standard copyediting notations will be used. Depending on the extensiveness of the mark ups, these will be done either on paper or directly on a PDF. Requests to use alternative approaches, such as commenting feature in Word, may be honored depending on the manuscript and extensiveness of comments—this may be subject to an additional fee.

Although the basic editing services are likely to be similar across various editing organizations, our developmental editing is performed by leading scholars and goes beyond simple writing issues to emphasize issues surrounding the overall readability of your manuscript. In developmental editing, we provide suggestions to improve the structure and flow of your manuscript. In our peer review service, we will provide journal style reviews from leading scholars in the social and behavioral sciences.
